Entrepreneurs in the making

Hello guys,
I am Yuvna Muthy, an Island girl who left the beautiful beaches of Mauritius to land in the picturesque city of Kaapstad.
On behalf of my team and I, welcome to our daily blog!
We are looking forward to share our experience and incredible journey as Young Entrepreneurs of Africa. We are students at the University of Cape Town enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship. As part of our curriculum, one of our major project of the year is to start up and run a business for the duration of the course .

First off, I would like to introduce you to my awesome team members: Bridget Van Wyk, our daily motivator and organiser; Deon Lamb, our Chef ; Dominic Edonga, our voice of reason ; Musa Mandala , our quiet brand expert and Tsedzuluso Netshimbpfe, our funny programmer. Each of our group members are eager to make fully use of our resources and knowledge to come up with the next revolutionary idea.

Today was a very productive day for us. We had our first official meeting with the great Stuart discussing our goals as a team, updates on our cake sale's progress and any related issues. The vision and mission of our team for this year was clearly laid out. We had a long and intensive brainstorming session on how to make the most of the cake sale. We are working towards making cake sale an exciting event for all students at UCT who will be visiting our stall , "Kitchen on Jammie" . We look forward to bring fun and entertainment to our stall aiming for being unique and welcoming to all our UCT mates !

As a team, we are learning to embrace the cultural diversity of each of our members. This I believe will help us understand each other better and consequently perform at our best to reach our goal. We have been discussing about finding the best strategies for marketing our stall for the cake sale and reaching out to sponsors. Each one of us have tried our best to display a high level of input in decision-making and reviewing strategies which had been previously agreed upon. We are learning to be proactive in our strategies and way of adapting to the challenges we face each day. Also, we are learning the pros and cons of email as a communication tool as opposed to engaging personally to make things happen.

Our brainstorming session in a nutshell :-)

With a long list of SMARTER objectives for this week, we are set out more motivated than ever to conquer the world of sponsors and aim higher to have a productive week.

Motto of the day :-)
